These paintings were completed more quickly. They begin with thumbnail sketches and are then worked as the paint and the water take shape on the paper. These are good exercies to do for many reasons. One is spontaneity can capture emotional reactions more viscerally than a well worked piece. Two, learning to interact with what the medium naturally does increases one's repertroie of effects, not to mention learning how to use a medium's inherent characteristics.
