PRIVATE LESSONS

The following topics are ways which I have developed to help folks hone their painting skills and atune their visions.  Also, we can develop content to address specific needs.

Drawing and Sketching- The Conceptual and the Perception
This  covers how to practice interpretive drawing. The value of  learning this prior to painting is that it is then easier to go from black and white to applying color maintaining strong volume.

Watercolor -Its Liquidness , Its Light, Its Grace

The content of this curriculum covers color theory and pigments, how to keep the water moving the pigment while not letting the brush muck up the color, paintings from rough sketches to completed works.

Sculpting with Pastel
Being the only dry, color  medium means  its characteristic of being able to be layered without subsequent layers altering previous ones. This means, for example, complementary colors can be layered with out creating gray. Works, therefore, can have tremendous depth.

Composition
Composition is probably the most difficult for the landscape artists. When painting landscapes it is so easy to be seduced into painting each article seen rather than actually composing to plan best how to depict the emotion or thought inspired by the scene. Degas  said, even before nature the artist must compose. One's sense of composition is the fundamental part of our work which informs all other decisions made about the piece. In this workshop we cover classical composition and then move to how the underlying abstract value shapes on to which actual objects will be drawn create a stronger work.

Classes are $30 and hour  or $45 for two people. My goal is to give you lots of information to take away and with which to play .
