CLASSES

There are 3 types of classes.

  On the first and third Friday mornings there is a drop-in class which begins with a lesson followed by folks working on  exercises  or their own projects.

On the second and fourth Fridays, folks do their Individual Work. At 12:15 we have a peer review of any piece on which artists want feedback and or help.

On  the first and third Tuesdays from 6:30-8:30 are drawing classes.
  The schedule below will give an idea of what we cover.

All classes are ' DROP IN': Please call or e-mail by the Wednesday before class to let me know you are coming.
Cost is $20 per session.

May 6th:    NIGHT CLASS- Setting up a Still Life
May 9th:    INDIVIDUAL WORK and CRITIQUE
May 16th:  LESSON- Compositional Elements of a Landscape- Western and Eastern
May 20th:  Still Life
May 23rd:  INDIVIDUAL PROJECTS and CRITIQUE
May 30th:   LESSON- Achieving Perspective in the Landscape
June 3rd:    LESSON-Still Life:  Honing Seeing
June 6th:    LESSON- Landscape Continued: Seeing Skies

Classes will continue all summer. Please check  this page for lesson topics June-August. They will be posted in the beginning of May.  

WORKSHOPS

Workshops are for  more intensive focus on specific topics. Hours will be 10 - 3:00 each day with a short break for lunch. I will be available during  the break for questions. The cost is $80. Unusual  materials will be supplied.

JUMP START YOUR ART

May 5th - May 6th
The focus of this session is to help those who have longed to begin or begin again exploring visual arts but have not found the focus or time to do it. We will begin by playing and creating in color and form moving to brainstorming how to continue the play once folks return home

GLAZING-- WASHES, STROKES and ENERGY


May 19 - 20 This session would be good for those who want to learn the skills of creating expressive pieces using textures, form as well as color.

PAINTING from PHOTOS

June 16 - 17
How to compensate for their discrepancies as well as how not to be a slave to the image.

ASIAN INK PAINTING

July 2nd - July 3rd
Using the Brush, the Paper and the Ink to work spontaneously to depict form.


MOUNTING ASIAN INK PAINTINGS and BUILDING A SCROLL

July 7 - 8
Learn the wet lamination process which preserves the Asian painting


COMPLETING A LANDSCAPE 

August 11 - 12
The goal of this session will be to begin and see through to completion a landscape painting.

COMING IN THE FALL WILL BE WORKSHOPS IN DRAWING, PORTRAITURE; PUTTING PEOPLE IN YOUR LANDSCAPES and USING THE ART OF THE STILL LIFE TO HONE VISION and SKILLS
